Having been raised by a father who was an artist/architect and a mother who doused us in literature. I had a very large imagination as a child. I basically grew up with a pencil in my hand and never ending stories at my feet. Nature was one of my biggest teachers, in fact most of my childhood I spent outdoors. Growing up in the rural town of Genola, with Utah Lake on one side and West Mountain on the other, I had endless days of exploring and adventure. I loved the rainy days of spring that turned into the warm days of summer, which faded into the beauty of fall, and then finally the magic of winter. Life as a child was so simple, yet so beautiful.

Today I find myself reliving my childhood through my

own three little girls wishing there was just some way to rewind time. Everything they see or experience is just pure magic. These are the days I will cherish forever. The art of simple living is really just enjoying what is in front of us; enjoying the now. Focusing on the beauty that each season of life brings. 

My vision for Highland farm is to bring to life a world without busy cars and fast paced people. I want to create a place where success is measured through the simple things in life. As an artist I find simplicity the key focus in most of my work. I have always loved creating and finding beauty wherever I go. My artwork and farm are just an extension of me as an artist. Pablo Picasso famously said: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” My hope is that through art I can  inspire others to find their inner child, and remember that one doesn’t have to look far to find beauty and joy in life. 

It’s that simple.
