Introducing Highland Farm's Spring Box.
Our small farm is committed to providing our customers with the freshest, highest quality produce and products. We're committed to sustainable farming practices that protect our land and animals for future generations. We believe that by supporting local agriculture, we can help build stronger and healthier communities.
At Highland Farm, our mission is to create a place where success is measured through the simple things in life. We focus on the beauty that each season brings.
Our team at Highland Farm is made up of dedicated farmers, florists, and artisans who are passionate about what they do. We're proud to be a part of the local farming community and we're always happy to share our knowledge and experience with others.
This year we are highlighting someone very special. A local U-pick flower farm called Wild Spring Flowers located in Spring Lake, Utah. Their flowers will be in our Summer and Fall farm boxes. Here is their story:
We're Jordy and Spensor Smith, the owners of Wild Spring Flowers. Our little flower farm is nestled on a mountain bench in the most beautiful corner of Utah called Spring Lake. Jordy developed a deep love of flowers since discovering Floret Flowers on Instagram. Having a flower farm was a pipe dream, and not something Jordy thought was reality. After being married for over 2 years, Jordy and Spensor were diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility. However, after multiple unsuccessful fertility treatments, they were shocked to find they conceived their son naturally. They lived in bliss for 22 weeks until their son, Liam, was stillborn on February 9, 2022.
Following this immense loss, Jordy was finally ready to jump into the dream of having a flower farm. Jordy had experienced so much loss, she needed to do something to bring happiness into her life again. They started putting bulbs into the ground in Fall 2022. Jordy and Spensor pride themselves on working together in their flower farm. Spensor built (and continues to build) all the flower boxes and Jordy designed the flower farm. They start their seeds indoors and divide their Dahlias together. Wild Spring Flowers grows seasonal blooms from Spring through Fall. The various flowers they grow consist of; tulips, daffodils, peonies, strawflowers, scabiosa, zinnias, and many many Dahlias plus so much more. Growing flowers has been a very healing process for both Spensor and Jordy. It has been their grief garden.
2023 was their first growing season, it was also the season that Jordy was pregnant via IVF with their second child, Lillie. Lillie was born at 24 weeks on November 8th, 2023, very premature due to Severe Preeclampsia. Lillie lived for 25 days and passed on December 3, 2023.
Jordy and Spensor are now dealing with the aftermath of 2 indescribable losses. On top of it, they now can only conceive via Gestational Carrier. Those costs are astronomical starting at $100k+. Jordy’s most important goal of Wild Spring Flowers is to provide free flowers to the funerals of other loss babies in the Utah County area. However, another goal of this flower farm is to help Jordy and Spensor in their long road ahead of being able to afford a Gestational Carrier and hopefully have living children.
They host multiple U-pick events throughout the growing season when people can come to the farm and cut their own bouquet. Jordy also does floristry work and custom arrangements for events. Follow them on instagram at @wildspring.flowers to know when their U-picks are!
